Where every fact comes from.
The full source list — and the rules we follow when sources disagree.
Everything on this site traces to a named source. The two pillars:
1. The hotel’s own website (1999–2011)
Preserved by the Internet Archive’s Wayback Machine: the home pages of 2001, 2005 and 2008; the About, Amenities and Attractions pages (2006); the 415 Grill page (2006); Christopher’s Tavern menu (2000); banquet-information pages (2002–2006); and the golf-package pages (2000–2001). Menu items, prices, package terms and course blurbs are quoted from these pages and labelled with their year.
2. William & Mary records
- W&M News: “William & Mary agrees to purchase Williamsburg Hospitality House” (March 2013)
- W&M Special Collections Knowledgebase
- W&M TribeTrek — One Tribe Place
Our rules
- Label the era. A 2000 price is presented as a 2000 price, never as current.
- Keep conflicts visible. The hotel said 296 rooms (2006); W&M counted 318 (2013). Sources place the opening at 1972 or under construction in 1973. We show both rather than pick quietly.
- No invention. Where the record is silent, we say so — and ask readers to fill the gap.
